Among the kings of the Egyptians, Ramses the II was the greatest of them all. He was many times better than Ramses the first, who couldn’t even wrap up a mummy by himself. Userma’atre’setepenre was his real Egyptian name, but anyone who knew him well would just call him Ramses. Being a king in ancient Egypt took its toll on private life, because they had slaves helping them with everything from brushing their teeth to wiping their butts. And so the only place where you would get some privacy was in the inner chamber of the pyramid.
