Tree Funeral

Leonardo da Vinci was the first to point out that tree rings formed annually. It’s not exactly rocket science, counting, so it’s fair to assume that someone might have stumbled upon the idea earlier. Some poor lumberjack probably had this all figured out before Leonardo’s time, but if you don’t write it down you don’t become famous 🙂 Dendrochronology is the scientific method of dating a tree by counting the year-rings. The world’s oldest living tree is a Great Basin bristlecone pine from White Mountains, California, which is around 5000 years old. That tree was born before the Egyptian’s built their first pyramids.
